Celebrate the City is an ongoing investigation to highlight the relationship between the arts and public space with public performances, participatory activities, and fun interventions.

Here are some examples of what we’re thinking of:

Limelight: Saturday Night was created by Scottish/English artists Sans façon. It’s a simple intervention that replaces two streetlights with theatre spotlights and instantly transfoms the street into a stage and passers-by into performers.

Toronto: musician Stephanie Cadman and Dancer Laura St. John perform J.S. Bach all over the city.

Antwerp: 200 people take over the train station to perform Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music.
